BATON ROUGE, LA – Guaranty Vice President and General Manager Gordy Rush is among five finalists for the Marconi Award in the “Legendary Manager of the Year,” category.
The National Association of Broadcasters established the Marconi Awards in 1989 to recognize stations and individuals who excel in the radio medium.
“This national recognition is truly a testament to Gordy’s focus on making our community a better place. We are fortunate to have him,” says Guaranty President and CEO Flynn Foster.
The Marconi, named for the inventor of radio broadcasting, is considered to be one of the most prestigious honors in all of broadcasting.
Rush’s radio career spans more than 3 decades, including 25 years with Guaranty Media, the only locally owned and operated radio broadcast group in Baton Rouge. Under his leadership, market share of radio revenue for the group has almost doubled, and in 2022 Guaranty’s four stations exceeded what they were doing pre-Covid in 2019. Among Rush’s many accomplishments is an effort he led to build a video studio for the company’s sports station in 2017, a space so advanced for its time, major markets would use it as a model to craft their own building.
Finalists for the Marconi Awards are selected by a team of national broadcasters, and winners are decided by a vote of the NAB’s Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy.
All winners will be announced live on October 25th at the Marconi Radio Awards Dinner, during NAB Show New York.
